What we will cover

If you’ve watched A Beautiful Mind, you probably know about the celebrated mathematician/economist John Nash. You might’ve even heard about the “Nash equilibrium” of a “game.” The idea of a Nash equilibrium is, in fact, central to research in various fields, including economics (for example, in understanding how firms compete), operations management (for example, in understanding how customers choose between queues), and politics (for example, in understanding negotiations). In this session, using some in-class strategic games, you will be introduced to some of the foundational ideas that shape how to formalise a game and find its equilibrium
