UCL School of Management is delighted to welcome Professor Maurizio Zollo, Bocconi University, to host a research seminar discussing ‘Innovation and adaptation of enterprise logic: A multi-disciplinary approach.’
Abstract
This seminar will present the opportunity to discuss a research program centred on the questions related to appropriate role of business enterprise in the context of rapidly evolving societal expectations and a wide variety of societal, moral, environmental and financial systemic tensions (or even crises) at a global scale. I will first introduce some conceptual advancements based on some recent work on an “integrated” theory of strategy, and then concentrate on the insights emerging from two cross-disciplinary, collaborative, research programs. The first one bridges the study of innovation and sustainability decisions with neuroscience methodologies in randomised controlled trials. The second studies firm-level innovation and change in the context of sustainability-related pressures and stimuli through a global coordinated effort of (academia-business) engaged scholarship leading to field experiment designs and related managerial learning outcomes. The implications for the potential establishment of globally recognised intellectual leadership in strategy, innovation and entrepreneurship research will be drawn and offered for discussion.
