Digital Strategy & Transformation Awards 2024

We are excited to announce the Winners and Runners-Up of the fourth Digital Strategy & Transformation Awards led by Associate Professor Dr Rikke Duus.

During the first 6 weeks of the term, students from across UCL departments and faculties who have selected to study the module MSIN0051 Digital Strategy & Transformation worked in digital consultancy teams to analyse and evaluate a chosen organisation’s performance, key challenges, and new opportunities. Based on their analysis, the teams proposed relevant and impactful digital transformation solutions to accelerate digital value creation.

This project is designed to equip students with both relevant digital skills and knowledge about digital business and consumer practices. In their digital consultancy teams, students gain an understanding of how to design, develop and execute digital strategies. As well as using analytical tools to systematically analyse and assess their chosen organisations, students also acquire a wide range of digital skills and competences. Teams do not submit their project in a traditional document/PDF format, but instead create their own interactive websites that contain their research, application of analytical tools, multimedia content, app prototypes, video insights and data visualisations. This helps to bring the teams’ work to life and makes it shareable with current and future employers and other relevant individuals.

Week-by-week, teams applied business-related analytical frameworks to assess and evaluate the innovation drive of their chosen organisation, as well as the dynamics of the competitive landscape, shifts in consumer trends and ‘white space’ opportunities to digitally accelerate the organisation’s ability to compete and create value for customers and other key stakeholders. In addition to the more formal lecture sessions, team were also supported during the workshop seminars by Dr Rikke Duus and Brian Andrews (Teaching Assistant).

This year, teams have developed digital transformation solutions for a wide range of organisations, including Waitrose, Pearson, Selfridges, TFL, Asda, Marriott, Lush, Fitness First, UCL and many more.

The Digital Strategy & Transformation Awards are given out in two categories:

  • Most Viable Digital Transformation Solution
  • Most Impactful Digital Multimedia Presentation

As many of the digital transformation projects were of a very high quality, it was challenging for the teaching team to decide the Winners and Runners-up. However, after careful consideration and deliberation, a few submissions were selected as Winners and Runners-up in the above categories.

The selected projects clearly demonstrated students’ ability to use data and insight to analyse the organisations’ performance, understand what the strategic direction is and identify a gap/opportunity for a new digital transformation solution. These teams also showcased their ability to present their projects innovatively and creatively using digital tools and platforms.

Many congratulations to all the Winning and Runners-Up Teams!
