With 2024 rapidly coming to a close, we are looking back at some of UCL School of Management’s incredible achievements from the past year and are celebrating the tremendous hard work of our staff, students and alumni!
While it was difficult to select only a few, we have compiled a list of our favourite highlights from 2024. We are incredibly grateful for our fantastic UCLSoM community, and look forward to seeing all that we achieve in 2025!
ucl school of management launches 5 new programmes
Earlier this year, UCL School of Management officially announced the launch of 5 new programmes beginning in September 2025. At the undergraduate level, we’ll be launching the BSc in International Management, which is centred upon international business and operations and will mark the first undergraduate programme from UCL School of Management to be taught in Canary Wharf.
At the postgraduate level, we’ll be launching our new MSc Finance and Data Science programme, the MSc in People Analytics and Human-Centric Management, as well as our highly-anticipated MSc in Marketing Science. Finally, we’ll be launching our first-ever online MSc in Strategic Accouting and Finance.
ucl ranks 1st in the uk and 5th globally in qs sustainability rankings 2025
Earlier this month, we were thrilled to share that University College London ranked 1st in the UK, 3rd in Europe and 5th globally in the recently-announced 2025 QS Sustainability Rankings. Assessing 98 universities within the UK alone and 1,744 institutions from across the globe, the QS Sustainability Rankings focus on a number of key factors, including environmental impact, social impact and overall governance. With an impressive score of 98.6 out of 100, the rankings confirm UCL’s mission to put people and the planet first.
Now in their third year, the QS Sustainability Rankings assess the ability of universities to tackle substantial environmental, social and governance (ESG) challenges, and score institutions based on metrics such as environmental sustainability, equality, employment and opportunities, and health and wellbeing. This year, UCL excelled in a number of categories, ranking 1st globally and in the UK in Knowledge Exchange, as well as 1st in the UK and 3rd globally in Health and Wellbeing, and 1st in the UK and 5th globally in Environmental Sustainability.
ucl school of management officially launches centre for sustainable business
In November, UCL School of Management officially launched the UCL Centre for Sustainable Business, which is the first centre of its kind dedicated to delivering unique solutions that support sustainability in business. Co-Directors Professor Onesun Steve Yoo and Professor Paolo Taticchi developed the centre to contribute to shaping a more sustainable future and driving change in the business world. The exclusive launch event invited executives, business leaders and members of the community who are passionate about sustainability and change to celebrate the initiative.
Paolo and Steve invited keynote speakers Dr Sanchita Banerjee Saxena from Article One and Ernesto Ciorra from POLIMI Graduate School of Management and MIT Technology Review Italia to deliver a speech on the ways in which businesses can foster and support a more sustainable future. Sanchita cited education, research and consultancy as the leading contributors, while Ernesto highlights that innovability (innovation combined with sustainability) is a strong way to move forward as a society.
BSC information management for business (IMB) team take home ucl’s inclusive practice award
In February, the incredible team behind UCL School of Management’s BSc IMB programme received UCL’s Inclusive Practice Award at an official ceremony in London. The award recognises and celebrates a recent project from the IMB team that hopes to support the experiences of A2UCL, disability and mature students at the university. In May 2023, the IMB team were awarded the Student Success Fund to run a project focused specifically on the IMB programme and their initiative aimed to deepen the team’s understanding of the experiences of A2UCL, disability and mature students at UCL.
The team began their efforts by collecting all the secondary data available from various sources and then used thematic analysis to study the interviews and identify trends that could be used to inform their efforts in providing support for the aforementioned student groups. The team’s incredible efforts were recognised at last night’s Widening Participation and Student Success Community of Practice Awards, where their project was nominated in two categories: the Inclusive Practice Award and the Student Success Award.

The UCL School of Management is delighted to announce its receipt of the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centres (GCEC) Award for Excellence in Specialised Entrepreneurship Education. This accolade recognises the School’s commitment to impactful entrepreneurship education through the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs for Ukraine lecture series. Co-developed by Nataliia and Pierre-Jean (PJ), the programme supports Ukrainian refugees through targeted entrepreneurship education.
The GCEC Award for Excellence in Specialised Entrepreneurship Education recognises institutions that deliver exceptional entrepreneurship education tailored to specific audiences or focus areas, such as social entrepreneurship, technology transfer, or women in entrepreneurship. UCL School of Management was selected from among the leading entrepreneurship programmes worldwide, highlighting its innovative educational approach and its dedication to driving societal impact.
angela aristidou launches co-edited book with us secretarty of state
UCL School of Management Assistant Professor Angela Aristidou recently launched her co-edited book with former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice during a launch event held at the Stanford University’s Hoover Institution in California. Opening the event, Angela launched the first volume of The Digitalist Papers entitled Artificial Intelligence and Democracy in America.
Amid AI-enabled developments that forecast a change in the ways people organise and govern themselves, as well as the insitutions that facilitate governance, Artificial Intelligence and Democracy in America encourages the spotlight to be turned on our current institutions. Ultimately, the book argues that the thoughtful examination of AI-enabled developments in relation to insitutional structures requires us to focus on whether our current insitutions are fit for purpose - and, if so, whose purpose?
ersin korpeoglu named in poets&Quant’s best 40-under-40 mba professors 2024
In May, we were delighted to learn that Associate Professor Ersin Korpeoglu was named one of the Best 40-Under-40 MBA Professors in the world by Poets&Quants. With an impressive 81 nominations, Ersin was one of the most-nominated professors to feature in this year’s list. An Associate Professor in Operations and Technology, Ersin’s research focuses on theoretical, empirical, and experimental analysis of operational problems in application areas including innovative business models and product development and supply chain management.
Discussing his incredible achievement, Ersin said, ‘What an honour to be part of this prestigious list along with other top business school professors under 40! A big and heartfelt thank you to my students and colleagues who deemed me worthy of a nomination! Teaching has always been a passion for me and it is so nice to be recognised this way for my efforts.’
3 school of management alumni feature in forbes 30-under-30
In April, we received the incredible news that three UCL School of Management alumni were named in the Forbes 30-Under-30 list in multiple categories. Firstly, BSc Management Science alumna Clara Ricard has featured was named in the Finance category. A founding member of Transition, a European VC firm focusing on climate tech startups, Clara specialises in Seed and Series A investments.
Additionally, MSc Entrepreneurship alumnus Harry Bremner was named in the Retail & Ecommerce category in recognition of his startup Tuggs. A pet food provider offering insect-based food that’s tailored specifically for each dog’s needs and tastes, Tuggs expects to hit $1.5 million in revenue in 2024 and has raised over $1.7 million in funding. Finally, IMB alumna Sara Berkai was named in the Social Impact category in recognition of her for-profit impact startup Ambessa Play.
27 students arrive from singapore management university for annual summer school
In July, we were delighted to welcome 27 students from Singapore Management University to our home in Canary Wharf for a one-week visit that explored the London startup ecosystem. Currently studying SMU’s MSc Entrepreneurship and Innovation programme, the students, along with Programme Director David Gomulya, were invited to One Canada Square by our very own MSc Entrepreneurship programme to enrich their understanding of entrepreneurship within the context of the UK.
Students visited finance company Revolut’s HQ in Canary Wharf and explored West India Quay through a tour of Docklands Museum and dinner at Browns Brasseries and bar. They also attended a panel of London-based founders on Level 50, as well as a number of informative sessions and workshops on the key elements of entrepreneurship, including venture capitalism, monetisation in the tech world and pitching.
alumni team organise key events in east asia
Throughout November, the UCL School of Management alumni team travelled extensively throughout east Asia in order to reconnect with and celebrate our incredible alumni community. Holding a number of events across Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei, our alumni team have facilitated expert discussion panels, guest lectures, and networking sessions designed to reinforce our reputation as London’s Global University.
Firstly, on 04 November, our team kicked off their East Asia engagement trip with a memorable event in Hong Kong, bringing together 30 alumni who were joined by UCL School of Management Professors Alan Parkinson and Lynsie Chew. The second event in the series took place at the Kempinski Hotel Shanghai on 08 November, and included a panel discussion that included a number of key speakers, including Deloitte’s Jiahui Jerry Feng and Wellington Tai Liu from Amazon. The final stop of the trip was the inaugural alumni engagement event in Taipei, which was held at the Grand Hyatt Taipei on 11 November.
ucl school of managEment hosts first-ever summer school for year 12 students
In August, we hosted our inaugural Summer School for Year 12 students in Canary Wharf. During their 1-week visit, students were tasked with developing a service or app that aimed at tackling waste in London and attended a number of sessions from design thinking experts to support them in their endeavours.
Organised by the team behind UCL School of Management’s BSc Information Management for Business programme, the Summer School allowed students to explore topics at the forefront of modern business, including sustainability and the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), as well as idea generation, prototyping and measuring campaign and decision impact.
