The latest Sustainable Circuits Index™ (SCI™), published by Professor Paolo Taticchi in collaboration with Enovation Consulting, has once again ranked Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the world’s most sustainable motor racing circuit for 2026.

Mugello Circuit retained second place, while England’s Silverstone Circuit completed the podium in third. Among temporary circuits, Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit remained the global leader, with WRC Secto Rally Finland rising to second place.

The SCI™ is a first-of-its-kind industry benchmark assessing 115 permanent and temporary motorsport circuits worldwide, evaluating their sustainability performance using publicly available data. Circuits are measured against 21 industry-specific criteria across seven sustainability categories, under a methodology aligned with established ESG frameworks.

The data collection and analysis for the 2026 SCI™ were conducted by Enovation Consulting between 1 January and 31 December 2025, with results verified by industry experts to ensure analytical rigour.

This year’s findings highlight steady progress across the sector, with 43 circuits improving their scores compared with the previous edition—an increase of 11 circuits year-on-year—demonstrating growing commitment to sustainability and more proactive public reporting of initiatives.

Notable improvements were recorded by several venues, including Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which climbed 12 places to fourth overall, and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which moved into the top ten after gaining 11 points. Jeddah Corniche Circuit also delivered a significant performance increase.

Dr Cristiana Pace, Founder and CEO of Enovation Consulting, said: “The continued progress we are seeing across circuits demonstrates that sustainability is becoming an integral part of how motorsport venues operate and evolve. This year’s results have shown an increase of actions, focused on community and operational efficiency, with a number of circuits implementing meaningful initiatives beyond major events.

“Circuits are also becoming increasingly transparent in communicating their progress. Through the Sustainable Circuits Index, our goal has always been to provide the industry with a data-driven, robust benchmark that encourages continuous improvement, fosters the sharing of best practices, and supports the transition to add value and future-proof the sport.”

Despite familiar names at the top of the rankings, the overall landscape is becoming more competitive, with improvements across a wider pool of circuits signalling that sustainability is now a central priority for the motorsport industry.
