UCL Executive Education collaborates with British Airways on sustainability programme

UCL School of Management recently partnered with British Airways to design and deliver a bespoke sustainability leadership programme for the airline’s Executive Committee. This initiative reflects British Airways’ ambition to lead the aviation industry in sustainability while showcasing UCL’s expertise in supporting senior leaders to tackle complex global challenges.

The programme was carefully crafted to address critical topics at the core of British Airways’ net zero and waste reduction strategy. Discussions focused on the role of purpose in driving organisational transformation, best practices for achieving net zero, and the potential of circular business models to support decarbonisation. The sessions also provided insights into the practical implementation of net zero strategies and how to effectively lead change within complex, global organisations.

By engaging with these themes, the airline’s Executive Committee explored innovative approaches to sustainability that align with the company’s long-term strategic goals while reinforcing its leadership capabilities.

“At British Airways, we are committed to taking bold steps toward a more sustainable future. This programme with UCL has been a valuable opportunity for our Executive Committee to deepen their understanding of their role in shaping the company’s journey to net zero,” said Gen Herga, Sustainability Manager at British Airways.

Professor Paolo Taticchi, Programme Director
“This collaboration with British Airways exemplifies the power of executive education in addressing critical challenges like climate change. By merging academic insight with industry expertise, we were able to guide the airline’s senior leaders in exploring innovative approaches to sustainability while aligning with the company’s strategic goals,” said Professor Paolo Taticchi, Co-Director of the UCL Centre for Sustainable Business.

The programme highlights UCL’s ability to design impactful learning experiences that are not only tailored to the needs of high-profile clients, but also aligned with their broader organisational strategies. It is another example of how UCL Executive Education empowers business leaders to drive meaningful change in their industries.

This partnership reaffirms UCL School of Management’s position as a leader in executive education, delivering programmes that blend academic excellence with practical application to support organisations in achieving more sustainable growth.
