The post holder provides comprehensive administrative support for all aspects of the School’s MBA programme, including liaison with our partner institution in China, as well as our MRes/PhD Management programmes. In addition, the post holder will support the School’s wider teaching and learning activities, working closely with the Teaching and Learning Manager.
The role will specialist in administering the joint MBA with Peking University (PKU) and the MRes/PhD programmes in Management, ensuring effective procedures are documented and adopted for dealing with all aspects including enquiries, applications, marketing, engagement of external contacts, assessments, student support and events. The post will lead in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, alumni and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond.
The role will include management for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of students from enquiry to completion, incorporating organisation of committees and processes relating to assessment, student and course records.
Key Requirements
The role holder must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail. The post calls for an awareness of the need for confidentiality, the ability to cope with intermittent heavy workloads and to prioritise tasks, to cope calmly with frequent interruptions that inevitably arise at certain periods and the capability to work flexibly as part of a busy team in a university environment. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and ‘can do’ approach are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined. In particular, the role holder will be a major point of contact at UCL for academic and administrative colleagues based at PKU: therefore, the role holdermust be sensitive to the cultural differences between communication in China and the UK and the role holder must have a very high standard of written correspondence that is clear and unambiguous.
