At UCL School of Management we understand how important it is to set yourself up for the best possible career. Time and time again, our students tell us that this is one of the primary drivers for them when they decide to pursue a postgraduate degree.
To help you kickstart your preparation before you have even joined us, we invite you to join us for our Pre-sessional Careers Programme: ‘Finding Your Future’ - a series of events designed to give you the support you need to start preparing for life after UCL, before you join UCL.
These sessions will take you through a variety of topics, from simply exploring your options and finding opportunities, to preparing to apply and developing your professional skillset.
The Finding your Future pre-sessional career series will also help you to meet the early application deadlines for the UK graduate schemes (a few of them are even as early as this summer!) with standout applications, as well as launch your career planning for the entire year.
All of the sessions which will take place are open exclusively to 2021/22 offer holders for our postgraduate programmes, with additional personal 1:1 sessions with our careers advisors open to those who have paid their deposit.
Booking your 1:1’s and events
To book your place on events or at a 1:1 appointment, you must first register as alumni on MyUCLCareers, UCL’s booking platform for all careers events and 1:1 appointments.
To register, please complete the ‘About You’ registration form ensuring that you:
- Use your full name, which should be the same that you used when you started your application process and enrolment at UCL
- Enter a personal email address that we can contact you on
- For the field titled ‘Subject’, select the UCL course that you will be starting in September
- For the field titled ‘Department’, select ‘UCL School of Management’ (final option)
- For the ‘Graduation date’, enter the date that you expect to complete your new course at UCL, (e.g. 23/09/2022)
- You will need your Student Number (SN), which can be found on applicant information correspondence
We will then send you instructions on how to log in to your new account.
Please note: it will not be possible to provide access to any events or 1:1 appointments without first registering on MyUCLCareers.

Perhaps you’re not 100% sure what you want to do after your Master’s, or you are trying to choose between a number of different possibilities? If so, then please tune into our sessions focusing on specific career pathways in different sectors, available to you after you graduate.
Once you have solidified your direction, it’s time to gain the skills, and search for potential roles. The pre-sessional programme is designed to support you to take practical steps to help narrow your options and begin to identify the roles and employers that are right for you.

1:1 sessions
Once you have accepted your offer and paid your deposit, you will be able to book a 1:1 appointment with one of our dedicated School of Management Postgraduate Careers Consultants.
At these 1:1 appointments, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your current career thinking, future plans or any queries relating to your CV, applications or sectors of interest, depending on your needs.
Now is the perfect time to start thinking about how to make the most of your time at UCL. Not only does university life quickly become busy, but many of the big and most popular recruiters have early application deadlines – so it pays to start making plans whilst time is on your side.
There could be a time lag between when you pay your deposit and our systems updating to reflect this. If you only recently paid your deposit, have registered on MyUCLCareers and want to book an appointment, please email careers@ucl.ac.uk confirming this and we can update your permissions status.
Once registered on MyUCLCareers, the appointment type you need to book is a School of Management Pre-Entry 1:1 Appointment; any other appointment booking will be automatically cancelled. All appointments can be accessed via this link.
Appointments are only available to offer holders who have paid their deposit. They are bookable up to 14 days in advance and will commence from 15th July.
